Understand Your Numbers.
See What's Really Happening.
Make Better Business Decisions.

Financial decision support for established business owners.

Good bookkeeping tells you what has happened. Year-end accounting and tax work are often focused on compliance.

I work with business owners in the space between—making sure the numbers make sense, understanding what they are saying about the business, and using that information to make better decisions.

Book a conversation

The Missing Conversation Between Bookkeeping and Year-End

Many established business owners receive regular financial statements but don't have anyone helping them understand what those reports actually mean.

The reports may be accurate, but the important questions are not being asked:

  • Why has the margin changed?
  • Where is the cash going?
  • Which costs are increasing?
  • Is revenue growth producing more profit?
  • What is driving the results?
  • Which numbers should be guiding the next decision?

Your bookkeeper may be focused on keeping the records accurate and current. Your year-end accountant is often looking back after the year is over.

I become part of your financial team, working alongside you, your bookkeeper and your accountant. I provide the financial insight that is often missing between day-to-day bookkeeping and year-end—connecting the reports with the decisions you need to make throughout the year.

Who This Is For

This work is for established business owners who have financial systems and reporting in place but want greater confidence in the numbers—and a clearer understanding of how to use them.

It may be right for you if:

  • You receive financial reports but don't feel you are getting the full story from them.
  • You want to know whether the numbers make sense before relying on them.
  • You are making decisions about pricing, costs, cash, hiring or growth.
  • Revenue is changing, but you are not sure what is driving the result.
  • You want someone who can explain the numbers clearly and challenge what you are seeing.
  • You need more than reports—you need a useful financial conversation.

What I Do

Establish whether the numbers can be trusted

Before making decisions from financial reports, we need to know that the information is reliable.
I look beyond the profit and loss statement to the balance sheet, cash movement and the relationships between the numbers. If something does not make sense, we identify the questions that need to be answered.
Because if the balance sheet is wrong, the profit may be wrong too.

Interpret what the numbers are saying

Once we know the reports are accurate, we can look more closely at margins, cost structure, cash flow, patterns and changes over time. This helps us identify what is driving and results and where the business may need closer attention.
The aim is not to give you more financial information, but to help you understand which numbers matter to your business.
"Kerry is a highly intelligent, colorful and always approachable—filled with creativity, troubleshooting and viable solutions. Our business has gained access to beneficial reporting that provides a real-time snapshot of profitability and expenses, identifying cost-savings without delay."
— Peggie-Ann Kirk

Use the numbers to make decisions

The numbers become useful when they help you decide what to do. We can apply what we have learned to a specific issue—such as pricing, costs, hiring, cash requirements, investment or growth.
I help you compare the options, understand the financial implications and decide what makes sense for your business.

Financial Expertise With a Coaching Approach

I am a CPA, QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor and certified coach.
I have spent more than 40 years working with financial information, and the part I enjoy most is helping people make sense of it. I like finding the questions behind the numbers: What changed? Why did it change? And what can you do about it?
My coaching background shapes the conversations I have with clients. I listen, ask useful questions and help you work through what is practical for your business and what you are trying to achieve.

"Kerry is exceptional. She explains steps in a clear and concise manner without making me feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. Her knowledge is impressive and her attitude is the best!"
