How to Pay Payroll Liabilities in QuickBooks Online?

If you are making payments for payroll liabilities and deductions from your employees payroll it is important that you use the correct section to record your payment.

The payroll tax centre is under Taxes on the left hand tab.


This is a little confusing – you would expect it to be under payroll!


In the taxes section there are two tabs, one for Sales tax, another for Payroll tax

Select the tax you wish to pay


The options differ depending upon where you are, and what agencies you are registered to pay with.

You may also need to file and pay using a government website, if you are not signed up to a payroll service that remits these payments for you.


TIP: Be sure to enter the tax payment in the payroll tax centre before you update your bank feed.  The transaction will then automatically match on the bank feed.  It is not possible to correctly record payroll or sales tax payments directly from the bank feed.
